Nyamba Buru Yawuru –Rebranding an organisation
The Yawuru people are the traditional Aboriginal owners of Broome, Western Australia. Yawuru are leaders in Indigenous Governance, Land Management and Education and as a professional, sophisticated organisation strive to reflect agility, energy and vitality in all their endeavours. Yawuru's connection to the land and sea is a prominent part of their identity as saltwater people and is encapsulated in the brand identity 'Land and Sea'. ------- In 2017, myself and 4 other UTS students were invited to take part in a special project working with Nyamba Buru Yawuru on a re-brand of their organisation. As students, the main aim of the project was to learn cultural protocols and ethics in design branding practice. Whilst being considered, our proposed identity 'Land and Sea' was not rolled out across the organisation.
