At Hand

An investigative research project exploring the re-imagining of the door opening experience through six chosen hand gestures. At Hand challenges the traditional role of the door handle and the door itself, expanding on its emotional capacity and potential for interaction. Having been greatly influenced by Kenya Hara’s theory of Ex-formation and his ambition to “make the known unknown”, At Hand deconstructs the preconceived understanding of how a door can be opened and re-imagines the process in a playful and thought-provoking way.
